Commissions are: Full until Winter 2026
Please be mindful that it may take Kalmia several days to reply to your inquiry. She only accepts personal commission offers via her form.
If you are interested having Kalmia to paint a kit for exhibition, please email her directly at kalmiaamanita@gmail.com
If you would like other options, here is a commission guide and list of painters in Japan or/r/brushforhire on Reddit (please make sure the painter has the proper experience with the type of kit you have). Kalmia may also be able to ask around her network of fellow painters. If you find another painter in the meantime, that’s ok. What’s best for you is that your kit is painted.

Commission FAQ:
General Questions
What counts as a “Garage Kit”?
Garage kits are sold at hobby events or hobby sites (Please see this guide for more info). These days the hobby isn’t limited to Japan, there are more and more Chinese sculptors and hobby events (like WonFes Shanghai).
In the past, Kalmia did not paint 3D Prints, but it is more common for kits to have some 3D printed parts or be entirely 3D printed. She will accept commissions if the print quality is good and the parts are separated well enough for airbrushing.
- Kalmia will NOT paint:
- Recasts
- If you are unsure, please check out Kalmia’s guide
- Unlicensed 3D Prints.
- Kalmia will not paint STLs found on the internet that you printed yourself. (In her experience, new/digital-only sculptors have little consideration when separating parts for an airbrush painter in mind. Or, parts are cut haphazardly in the middle of limbs which add a lot more work to make the kit look presentable painted.)
- PVC figures
- Violent/Gore/Guro kits
- Plastic model kits (Gunpla/Frame Arm Girls/etc)
- Military/Trains/Vehicles
- Miniatures/Warhammer 40k/”Western style” figures
- Explicit kits of minors
- Kalmia does not consider short/petite characters automatically minors. Suggestive poses are not always explicit. Please fill out the form if you are still unsure if a kit qualifies.
- Recasts

I see you’ve painted [blank] before. Why won’t you take it as a commission?
Sometimes Kalmia will go outside of her comfort zone for myself, long-term clients, or friends.
Can you paint my kit exactly like this other artist?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Kalmia will do her best to match reference images, but she may not have access to the same paints/tools/equipment or have enough practice with certain techniques. She will interpret things her own way.
Customizations/Equipment
Can you sculpt my OC?
Kalmia does not sculpt kits from scratch. Her sculpting skills are limited. She may be able to sculpt minor modifications or combine/kit-bash two or more kits.
Can I get a custom base?
Yes! Kalmia owns a laser cutter and can make acrylic bases of different sizes and colors. She can also engrave images/names/icons/logos in the base as well.
She also may be able to make a diorama base.
Please see the “custom base” section of her Portfolio for previous examples.
Shipping/Repairs
My kit arrived broken. What can you do?
Kits that arrive damaged can be fixed by Kalmia free of charge, if the customer pays for shipping.
I have another kit someone else painted. Can you repair/repaint it?
Kalmia does not like removing/covering someone else’s work. She will not touch-up or repair kits painted by others. The types of paint she uses may effect the paint that is there. If accepted, she will be stripping the paint and starting from scratch and the work will be priced as such.
A kit you painted broke due to other factors like moving, pets, etc. What can you do?
Kalmia can repair kits she painted for a fee.
